The Halden automates the pour-over process using a copper-lined heating block that brings water to precisely two hundred degrees Fahrenheit before pumping begins. Rather than a steady stream, the machine runs a dedicated forty-five-second pre-infusion cycle, dispensing just enough water to saturate the dry coffee bed and allow carbon dioxide to escape. Water is distributed through a cast nine-hole dispersion shower head that spans the full width of the filter cone to eliminate dry pockets.
The brew basket sits atop a heavy borosilicate glass carafe fitted with a silicone-cushioned collar and a stainless steel mixing lid. Water routes through high-temperature silicone lines rather than rigid plastic tubing, preventing taste transfer over extended daily use. The carafe sits on an unheated silicone trivet, preserving flavor integrity without stewing the brewed coffee.
Rinse the shower head and brew basket under running water after each batch, and wash the carafe by hand to protect the collar. The machine requires flat-bottom basket filters and will not fit conical v60 papers. It produces forty ounces of clean drip coffee, but requires at least twenty ounces per batch for proper bed immersion.
