Description
The Harrow Bread Box is formed from sheet steel with a matte powder coat that resists fingerprints and grease marks from counter work. The roll-top door moves along recessed internal runners fitted with light brass tension pins, meaning the tambour holds its position halfway open or pushes cleanly out of the way without dropping back down. A flat top surface provides secondary storage for butter dishes, small canisters, or a timer.
Airflow is controlled through six punched vents along the rear panel. These apertures release moisture expelled by fresh loaves before it pools along the crust, maintaining a dry crumb without drawing out the internal moisture that keeps the bread soft. It holds two standard sandwich loaves or one large sourdough boule with room to spare.
Steel construction keeps the box rigid on uneven counter surfaces, though the seams are not airtight. It will not preserve pre-sliced commercial breads beyond their usual shelf life, and warm loaves fresh from the oven must cool completely on a rack before going inside to prevent condensation on the inner walls. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry immediately.
