Description
Cut from a single solid plank of Mediterranean olive wood, this serving board features dense, continuous grain lines running end to end. The timber is dried slowly in kilns to reduce internal tension before shaping, creating a heavy, warp-resistant board for cheese, charcuterie, or bread. Because it is carved from one piece rather than glued strips, there are no glue seams to split or weaken over time under regular household use.
The surface is planed flat, sanded smooth, and finished with food-safe mineral oil to seal the pores against grease and surface moisture. Both faces are finished equally, so you can present food on the upper face and use the reverse side for light slicing. Measuring roughly nineteen inches long, it accommodates long baguettes or cheese arrangements while fitting into standard base kitchen cupboards.
Olive wood is dense, but it will dull fine kitchen knives if used as a heavy preparation chopping block. Never place this board in a dishwasher or submerge it in a sink, as standing water prompts rapid cracking. Wash by hand with mild soap, dry immediately, and oil the grain every few months when the timber looks pale.
