Machined from solid brass stock, this pair of candlesticks carries the density needed to keep tall tapers upright and secure. Each piece is turned on a lathe to establish clean transitions along the stem, terminating in a wide, recessed base lined with dense wool felt to protect tabletop finishes. Because the brass is raw and free of synthetic lacquer, exposure to air, natural oils from handling, and ambient humidity will gradually soften its golden hue into a deep, muted patina rather than peeling or flaking.
The socket measures seven-eighths of an inch in diameter with a half-inch depth, sized precisely for standard taper candles. Wax residue can be removed by running the candlestick under warm tap water and wiping clean with a soft cloth; metal scrapers and abrasive cleaning powders will permanently scratch the turned surface.
Be aware that these holders arrive unlacquered. If you prefer high-gloss, pristine yellow brass, you will need to polish them regularly with a metal cream. Left alone, fingerprints will darken into noticeable spots within weeks before unifying into an aged finish.
