Ridge Dish Brush with Head

Description

The handle is turned from untreated European beechwood, shaped with a slight waist to give wet hands purchase over a sink. At the working end, a metal wire clip holds the round brush head securely in place; when the bristles wear down, the collar slides back along the neck to release the disc, sparing the timber handle from the bin. The head itself is packed with natural tampico fibres harvested from the agave lechuguilla cactus. Tampico maintains its spring in scalding water, cutting grease and lifting scorched porridge from raw cast iron and stainless steel without melting or softening.

Because the wood is unsealed, it should not sit submerged in dirty dishwater or rest bristle-down in a puddle on the counter. Shake out excess moisture after washing and hang the brush by its metal hanging loop or dry it head-up in a ventilated crock. The stiff plant fibres will scour enamelled cast iron and ceramic bakeware safely, but they can produce micro-abrasions on polished soft plastics, mirror-polished non-stick pans, and thin acrylic glasses.
