Description
This sixteen-piece dinnerware set provides service for four, comprising four dinner plates, four side plates, four shallow bowls, and four cereal bowls. Each piece is cast from high-fired stoneware and finished with an iron-bearing reactive glaze. Because the mineral kiln wash reacts naturally to shifts in firing temperature and atmospheric oxygen, no two surfaces emerge identical. You will notice small pooling marks, gentle tone shifts from oat to pale slate, and pinpoint iron blooms across the surfaces.
The dinner plates measure ten and a half inches across, with a flat floor and a low, straight-sided rim that keeps sauces contained. The wide bowls hold twenty-six fluid ounces, well-suited to pasta or stews, while the cereal bowls hold twenty fluid ounces. The unglazed foot ring of each vessel is diamond-polished to sit flat and smooth on bare timber tables.
Stoneware of this density handles the microwave and domestic dishwashers without issue. It is not, however, thermal-shock proof, so avoid transferring pieces straight from a cold refrigerator into a hot oven. Flatware will leave faint gray cutlery marks over years of use, which can be scrubbed away with a mild bar powder.
