The underside features a vulcanized natural latex coating applied in an open-grid pattern. This backing grips glazed ceramic, polished porcelain, and smooth stone floors firmly without sticking or transferring residue, even when the floor beneath is damp.
Measuring twenty-one by thirty-four inches, the mat catches water runoff across standard tub and shower thresholds. The long, uncut loops absorb surface moisture quickly while keeping foot pressure cushioned off cold floorboards. It requires routine laundering to prevent mildew buildup in the core fibers. Machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water and hang to dry; high heat cycles in commercial tumble dryers will degrade the latex backing over time.
The dense pile takes longer to air dry than flat-weave alternatives and remains heavy when fully saturated. It is not suitable for radiant-heated floors where constant high temperatures can embrittle natural latex, nor should it be cleaned with chlorine bleach.
