Built from solid planks of hard maple glued side by side, this medium edge-grain cutting board provides a stable, dense work surface for routine kitchen prep. Measuring sixteen by twelve inches with an inch and a quarter thickness, it handles vegetable chopping, bread slicing, and poultry breakdown with equal ease. Its flat grain structure yields a durable face that withstands repeated contact without excessive splintering.
One face features a deeply routed continuous juice channel along the outer border, catching runaway braising liquids, meat drippings, and fruit juices before they reach the counter. The reverse side is entirely flat, giving you an open, unencumbered field for mincing herbs or working pastry. Undercut finger grooves routed into both short ends provide a secure grip when moving the board between stove and sink.
Wipe clean with a warm, damp soapy sponge and dry upright with both faces exposed to circulating air. Do not leave it soaking in water or place it inside a heated dishwashing cycle. Unlike end-grain timber, horizontal edge grain will show distinct surface scratches over time and is slightly firmer against delicate knife bevels.
