Description
Built from edge-grain North American hard maple, this carving board is sized to manage whole chickens, bone-in pork roasts, and standing rib roasts without crowding the counter. Maple offers a resilient surface that resists deep knife scoring while remaining gentle on sharp kitchen edges. The board measures twenty inches wide by fourteen inches deep, giving your knife room to work cleanly around carving forks.
The perimeter juice groove is cut three-eighths of an inch deep, sloping downward into a wide corner well. This well holds up to four fluid ounces of liquid, stopping hot jus from spilling onto worktops or pooling directly beneath the meat. The reverse face is planed flat for prep chopping, bench work, and rolling pastry dough.
Wash the board by hand using warm water and mild soap, then towel it dry immediately. Never run it through a dishwasher or leave it soaking in a wet sink, which causes the wood to cup or split along the glue joints. It weighs eight pounds, making it steady under heavy cuts but somewhat heavy to manoeuvre in compact kitchen basins.
