Description
This table runner uses a dense, plain-weave flax fabric cut to two and a half meters in length. At roughly ninety-eight inches long and sixteen inches wide, it spans a standard six-foot or eight-foot dining table with a tidy drop at either end. The edges are finished with deep, folded hems and mitred corners sewn on industrial lockstitch machines, preventing the borders from curling or fraying under frequent handling.
Pure linen has a distinct, substantial hand that settles flat under its own weight without starch or synthetic sizing. Spills from red wine, olive oil, or citrus should be addressed promptly by soaking in cold water before laundering. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle using mild liquid detergent, then line dry or tumble dry low.
Linen wrinkles naturally as it dries. Press with a heavy steam iron while still damp if a crisp surface is preferred, or leave it unpressed for everyday meals. This runner does not provide thermal insulation; hot cast-iron skillets and roasting pans require a trivet to avoid scorching the bare flax fibres underneath.
