Description
This dual-sided synthetic water stone restores dull kitchen cutlery and polishes the bevel to a keen finish. The medium 1000-grit face cuts quickly to establish a clean apex and remove minor edge wear, while the fine 6000-grit side refines the scratch pattern and hones a smooth, razor-like edge. Because it uses water rather than mineral oil, the stone rinses clean under the tap without leaving greasy residue on blades.
The whetstone sits inside a moulded silicone cradle that grips smooth countertops to stop the stone from sliding under sharpening pressure. A wide surface area of seven by two and a quarter inches supports steady, even strokes across kitchen knives, wood chisels, and plane irons.
Soak the stone in plain water for ten to fifteen minutes before use, splashing extra water on the surface as slurry accumulates. Allow the stone to air-dry completely at room temperature before boxing it away. It will wear out of true over months of regular sharpening and requires flattening on a dedicated lapping plate. It will not repair deep chips without excessive stone wear.
